Haendel's Messiah 2025 – in Boucherville and Longueuil

Like light, music warms the soul.

Handel’s Messiah: A Timeless Holiday Tradition

Each December, Festival Classica invites audiences to rediscover an enduring masterpiece: The Messiah by George Frideric Handel. A cornerstone of the Baroque repertoire, this beloved concert returns to Montreal’s South Shore for two magical evenings — December 3 at Église Sainte-Famille in Boucherville and December 19 at the Co-Cathedral of Saint-Antoine-de-Padoue in Longueuil. Under the inspired direction of Matthias Maute, Ensemble Caprice and Ensemble ArtChoral, joined by Marianne Lambert, Florence Bourget, Emmanuel Hasler, and Marc Boucher, will bring new life to this timeless work.

The chosen venues add to the splendour of the experience: the historic warmth of Église Sainte-Famille and the majestic presence of Longueuil’s Co-Cathedral create the perfect setting for Handel’s spiritually charged music. Both spaces, grand yet intimate, offer an exceptional acoustic environment — an invitation to experience the full emotional depth and radiant sound of The Messiah.

Performed around the world each year, Handel’s Messiah continues to transcend time with its message of hope and light. For many, attending this concert marks the true beginning of the holiday season — a moment of reflection, beauty, and connection. Whether as a cultural outing with family and friends, or a peaceful interlude before the festivities, this musical gathering is the perfect way to embrace the spirit of the holidays.
