In 1838, to escape societal gossip, the unlikely couple of George Sand and Frédéric Chopin seek refuge on the island of Majorca. The lovers plan on devoting themselves to their art: she with her quill, he at the piano. Unfortunately, the instrument ordered by Frédéric is delayed at customs. Under the pouring rain, their dream vacation goes awry, and their relationship is put to the test.
Les lettres de Chopin is a musical tale by Denis Plante (La Bibliothèque-interdite) that channels the voice of author George Sand (Gabrielle Maria Gourd). Against a backdrop of the renowned pianist’s most exquisite compositions, the woman of letters unveils, with wit and tenderness, the secrets of her poignant relationship with the young musical genius.
